It all starts in Pudasjärvi, a small town of 10 000 inhibitants in Northern Finland, quite close to Oulu, the Northern city of technology. Autumn has come, and two boys are finally starting up a band of their own. Some Finnish underground metal bands have finally gained some success abroad, so Jarmo Puolakanaho and Altti Veteläinen decide to try it, too. Songs are written throughout the winter. Andromeda is finally chosen to be the name of the band. Jarmo plays the guitar and sings, Altti plays the second guitar. The drums are banged by the computer.
1992
The first demo is to be called "The Fourth Dimension". The recording sessions start in April and end in May. The tape contains four songs of power / thrash metal, not played so well. But you have to start somewhere, haven't you? The next demo is recorded in July, at the "official" rehearsal place of the bands of the town this time. The recording sessions are soon to be interrupted due to technical problems, however. So, the boys get an idea to expand the band to a "real band" with rehearsals and a real drummer. In August, Andromeda asks Petri Sankala (later to play in EToS) to their drummer. The also gets two more members Mikko Komulainen (vocals) and Olli-Pekka Törrö (guitar). Altti starts to play the bass. This line-up rehearses intensively until October. One night, the rehearsal place catches fire and burns down. The equipment is saved by the firemen but all the bands of the town suddenly lose their beloved small, cozy rehearsal place.
1993
New songs are written in spite of the lack of rehearsal place. Jarmo records an instrumental demo in summer in order to arrange time and space for brand new material and a brand new style. Autumn comes and still no rehearsal place... Altti, Jarmo and Olli decide to return back to the drum machine time - they form up a side project called MCD. The style would be a bit more deathmetallish. The demo tape "Beyond The Fantasy" is recorded and mixed in October - the result is much better than the boys expected.
1994
New demo tape (or actually promo tape) is being planned. The name comes first: "The Seventh Goddesses of Frost". The songs are recorded in May and the result is better than ever, even if the mixing doesn't get as good as it can. There is one problem. the name... Moshington D.C. doesn't sound such a serious name. So the band make up a new name: Eternal Tears of Sorrow. The boys think the tape is good enough to spread to the underground circles. The feedback is very encouraging. Tico Tico studio has a very good reputation. EToS thinks the next demo must be recorded in a real studio, so Tico is the only solution. In October, "Bard's Burial" pro...
