Good Charlotte nació en Annapolis, Maryland, y actualmente esta integrado por Joel, Benji, Billy y Paul como una banda en búsqueda de sonidos punk rock con tendencias novedosas y hasta poprock. Debutaron en el mercado con su primer disco autotilulado, cuyo sencillo promocional fue "The Little Things" en el 2001. Joel y Benji miembros de la banda, nativos de Maryland y gemelos idénticos, escribieron la mayoría de las canciones cuyas letras se caracterizan por el gran contenido de experiencias personales. Billy se unió al grupo al aparecer con su guitarra acústica en uno de los shows de la banda, cuando aún pertenecía a Overload, otra agrupación. Los hermanos Joel y Benji fueron botados del apartamento en donde vivían, por lo que se refugiaron en el de Billy. Durante el tiempo que no contaban con el apoyo de una disquera, Good Charlotte se presentó junto a bandas como Blink 182, Bad Religion, Eve 6, Nine Days, y participó como telonero de Lit en una gira que se realizó en la Costa Este de Estados Unidos. Un demo fue enviado a la estación Philly, WPLY y como resultado fueron firmados por la Sony Music. A finales del 2002 estrenan su segundo álbum titulado "The Young And The Hopeless" a través de Sony Music, y el pegajoso tema "Life Time of The Rich & Famous" es lanzando como primer sencillo promocional

GOOD CHARLOTTE Singer Joel Madden and his guitar-playing twin brother Benji were inspired to start their Maryland-based, pop-punk quintet Good Charlotte when they were 16 years old, after seeing a life-changing Beastie Boys concert in 1995. Although the twins had literally zero experience playing music, they had no trouble recruiting two high school friends--bassist Paul and drummer Aaron (the band members prefer to use only their first names)--to form the original, four-piece incarnation of Good Charlotte. Benji taught himself to play on a cheap guitar that had been collecting dust in a closet (with the help of Paul, who showed him a few basic pointers), and gradually the band improved; by the time they were high school seniors, they were a full-fledged rock combo with a following in the Baltimore/D.C. area and legitimate gigs at WHFS's annual HFSFestival. Naturally, upon graduating high school, the boys decided to skip college to pursue their musical dream.
